Trolley numbers remain high
The number of patients awaiting admission on hospital emergency department trolleys has remained high, despite it being summertime, when numbers usually drop off.
Figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) show there were 378 people on ED trolleys yesterday morning.
The highest number was at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, which had 37 patients on trolleys. There were 34 patients on trolleys at Tallaght Hospital.
Cork University Hospital had 29 patients on trolleys yesterday, according to the INMO figures.
