There was a young (23) midwife whose name I think was Hazel. She was amazing. She was so friendly and really listened to my fears about my baby (first baby). She was such a lovely girl.

All the midwives and staff of the maternity and special baby care unit were amazing. I had a family bereavement while an inpatient, I was treated with such compassion, even though everyone was under such pressure I never felt dismissed or rushed which I am so grateful for.

I would like to convey the excellent experience received since being accepted on the cardiac programme. In particular I would like to compliment the program coordinator Ann Marie Browne, Anne Marie was very professional in the delivery of the course. Anne Marie has excellent motivational and communicational skills and delivered every aspect of the course to a very high standard. This experience has thankfully helped me excel in my rehabilitation. Could you please convey my thanks to Anne Marie and her team. This experience has thankfully helped me excel in my rehabilitation. Could you please convey my thanks to Anne Marie and her team.

Dr Rooney - while I recovered from an infection that knocked me and completely drained me of all normal energy and emotions. Although the A&E was overcrowded and busy, their service was prompt, although the nurses need people training!!! I was sent to ICU which scared me but once going through the maze of doors into an environment of calm and most importantly friendly, informative, smiling and highly-educated staff I knew that I was in safe hands. Everything was explained, permission was asked for everything from the basic can I remove a piece of clothing to can I put a massive IV into the side of my neck! The doctors of course were fantastic, however I feel that what makes this ICU so special is the nurses. This unit succeeds because of them. I was especially impressed with Paul, Mary, and a nurse called AJ who will forever be in my heart. The manager Ann was also very professional! After 3 days I was transferred to a ward and then home after 6 days. Mayo is a highly professional gem of a hospital in the West.

The doctor and her team doing the early rounds was excellent very clear and thorough in checking my history etc... The only downside was, it was in the corridor so lacking any form of privacy.

A big thank you to staff nurse Maria. I couldn't have asked for anyone better. Attentive, professional and very caring. I felt in good hands and would love Maria to be recognised for her kind work. A true credit to Mayo General.

Dr Lavin and her team. Very approachable and willing to answer questions in a way that can be understood by a non-medical person. All the staff on Ward A are kind, friendly, overworked and a great group of people. My father spent 16 weeks in this ward so I got to be familiar with them all and got a real insight into the lack of support there is for nursing staff. More care assistants are required to take pressure off nursing staff for non-medical duties. It's crazy, they have to do everything.
