Quick, prompt booking, triage and subsequent treatment. We left a different hospital with no care and we were full of fear and anxiety. But the doctor in Crumlin liased with our consultant in the United Kingdom taking particular attention to learning the procedure to be undertaken and did so with such wonderful gentleness, kindness and compassion towards our seven month old son. Discharged from hospital less than an hour after presenting. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Our Lady's to any family in need. We will return to same in the future should the need present itself and will be taking a wide berth of the other hospital.

I had a terrible pain and went to the hospital at around 9:30. The children in the waiting room where just for minor things like a broken arm etc so it was not that busy, we where seen in 15 mins to triage. I was not able to eat or drink due to the pain, I had my blood sugar taken and it was ok, my blood pressure was a bit high due to the pain I was in. I was seen by a doctor 20 minutes after triage I was seen and I was asked the regular question my bloods where taken, ekg and a urine sample they all can back normal. The doctor called in a specialist, they gave my countless medications but nothing worked I was then admitted and put on an IV. I was waiting in a cubical in the cast room for hours until I got a bed on the ward, I then started throwing up and couldn't keep anything down even though I hadn't eaten or drunken anything so i was on IV fluids and medication for the time I stayed at Crumlin. The staff are so friendly and kind to the patients. I love Crumlin and I wouldn't go anywhere else.

The healthcare professionals are fine, they try their best. Although when you are benchmarking against Tallaght A&E, Crumlin is 3rd world. My 17-month old son had an injury (finger partially detached and it needed to be reattached). He was admitted on a Wednesday at 2pm by ambulance from creche and his finger was not seen to until the Thursday 4.30pm. I left the hospital at 6.30pm on the Thursday. He had been fasting since 8pm the evening before, so for 22 hours. The treatment was horrendous, it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in my life. The systems in Crumlin are completely unfit for purpose, it needs audited and a complete reshaping of systems and communications. I got to observe the flow of work and communication touch points and they are exceptionally poor, no words can actually articulate how dreadful they are. I will never forget this experience, the injury itself wasn't challenging, the care received however will be etched on my mind forever. It was appalling.

An amazing team in urology, work very well together, communicate very good also which makes the service run smoothly. My child has a rare condition and I have dealt with many different departments in the hospital but certainly urology is the best to deal with. It is well run, very receptive to any questions and always supply the answer. We, as parents, do not know what we would do without these lovely people to be contacting. We feel so lucky to have someone like Patricia the secretary and Liz the nurse on the end of the phone to help, assist and pass our requests on to Prof Quinn. The secretary is such a pleasure to deal with, nothing is too much trouble. We sometimes feel we are annoying when we are worried about our child, but there is never a comment, never a complaint and always a bright voice to listen to our concerns. Liz (Nurse) is also a delight to deal with, and so full of information and knowledge. We feel safe and secure with these wonderful people. This survey asked if we would return to Our Lady's Hospital, well yes once it holds Prof Quinn and team, Patricia and Liz. What an amazing team they are. I cannot praise them enough. From the bottom of our hearts myself and my wife would like to say a big thank you, our pathway through the medical problems with our child are certainly easier with these wonderful people on side.

Appalling treatment of an eight-year-old boy. Twenty hours in A&E when records showed he had a cardiac issue.

I am so upset and distressed about how my 3 year old daughter was treated in the A&E department. The doctors really need to communicate much better with each other. And since they didn't, my daughter is still in huge distress and pain. This is not good enough. What am I to do as a mother when my child is in so much pain and I'm sent to A&E by my GP, only to be left 10 hours and sent home again. It's cruel

I cannot do justice to the words I write regarding the care our new baby daughter received in the first six-12 months of her life. She underwent two major cardiac surgeries and the level of care and professionalism shown to us as parents and our daughter as a patient were incredible. Our consultant Colin McMahon we can never thank enough for the then and continuing care we receive, our surgeon Jonathan Guinness and his excellent team, we will be forever grateful not only for the results of the surgery but for the manner in which we were kept informed in advance, throughout and after the surgeries. The aftercare was and still is amazing and I’d like to particularly thank our clinical / surgical appointed nurse Jackie O' Donoghue who went way above and beyond to keep us informed of all procedures and to show kindness and consideration way beyond what was required of her.

My child has kidney problems. Unfortunately an area very much understaffed but I felt we were so well looked after by two wonderful people. Kind, generous, knowledgable, amazing. Compassion was huge both in the consultant and the secretary. She calls, she replies to queries, if she does not know she finds out and comes back. I have picked up my phone at 6pm and the secretary was on the end of it with a reply to my query. I cannot express how much these two people have helped us, as a family, through a tough time. I just cannot find enough words. Prof Quinn is a wonderful surgeon, very kind man without him we would be lost and without his secretary,Patricia, who through her we have access to Prof Quinn. We are eternally grateful to have Patricia on the end of the phone and Prof Quinn looking after out precious child. Thanks you so so much. You both will always be in our prayers.

I was extremely disatisfied with the entire care and treatment at Crumlin. The results of the test took five months to receive and that is only because I kept requesting them. Follow up care diabolical, eight months for a follow-up appointment privately. On day of discharge, the doctor in question or in fact any person on his team discharged my child, I got a phone call as I was returning to the hospital to come and take her home. No feedback, no explanation, zero respect towards the child who was extremely upset that no one had spoken with her to explain the plan forward. Never in my life have I met a consultant with total disregard for their patient. This doctor visited her once and did not even acknowledge her but stood with their back to her. The doctor was extremely dismissive of everything and condescending. I brought my child elsewhere and she was diagnosed with a medical problem and is now on medication. I received a letter from the previous consultant in Crumlin to say there was nothing wrong with my child.

Housekeeping in the ward was alarming. Also the nurse putting in the IV lines was rough and man handled my child. I raised my views with nurses and parent advocacy but did no good. Got a letter back a few weeks later, doctors and nurses said I used bad language which I'd never do.

Despicable treatment received by my one-year-old. Bad news was given in a cleaning cupboard in the x-ray department, then down to the relevant clinic to get told by the nurses to stop crying and get over it. My child would need up to 10 surgeries and is a baby so I found this very upsetting. Met with the consultant and found him extremely rude and unwilling to answer questions or explain what would happen. I cannot believe the insensitivity of these people who should be used to working with children and dealing with upset parents. All I can say is thank god for Temple Street.

From the moment we arrived we were looked after in a very kind way. The time we would have to wait was explained and we were kept up to date at all times. Nurses and doctors do a fantastic job, the ward clerk was also very caring. Helped make a difficult time bearable.

My son was diagnosed with Crohns and was due his medication via infusion. He was very upset and I took him to the waiting room on the way to the chapel to calm down. A lovely lady called Becca came out to see if I needed anything and give me some tissues for my son. She asked him what was he on and he said he didn't want to get his infusion. She told him sometimes she gets a needle in her tummy because she gets a sore tummy and that it's scary but she feels better afterwards and that means she can walk her dogs and was it like that for my son? Can he walk our dog when he feels good? She made him a promise that she would give him some Spider-Man stickers if he was brave enough to go back upstairs. He went and got his infusion. She calmed him down brilliantly and understood what he needed to hear. Now I keep Spider-Man stickers in my handbag.

My 7-month old needed surgery and from start to finish the level of care we have received has been truly outstanding! From calling about appointments/results to the care on the ward! Prof Quinn is truly one of the most genuinely caring doctors I've come across! He made us feel as at ease as we could be! And you can see this come through in his team also!

I cannot put into words how my child was treated in Crumlin last week. No wheelchair bathroom where she could wash herself. She was put into a ward you could not get the wheelchair up beside. When she collapsed, she was put back into bed and me and another parent were left to deal with her in pain. Came home on Thursday but no doctors checked her since Tuesday. Will never go near this hospital again.

We were referred twice by GP for 3-month-old with breathing difficulty. Once we went in without referral as her breathing at home was so distressing to us. On the first occasion we were seen by a doctor after four hours and she was given a nebuliser. We were then sent home, breathing was just as bad next morning. On the subsequent visit we waited six hours and were told to go to the GP. When we went to the GP they told us her breathing was worrying and she had very poor weight gain so to go back to Crumlin. We waited six hours to be seen for 10 minutes. We were told they wouldn't do anything, we were given no advice and made feel like we were foolish to be there even though the GP referred us! Thankfully the GP was so concerned he rang us and she is now on inhalers and antibiotics, we also have a referral for chest specialist. I was so upset at the lack of care and attitude of the staff. This breathing and lack of weight gain is going on weeks, I was so upset about my little girl. I will never go to Crumlin again I would have no faith in them whatsoever. I await a good outcome from current meds and referral thanks to my GP. They are clearly understaffed but that is no excuse. Oh and I was furious to witness a woman who worked in Crumlin come in, and her child was seen straight away with what was a sore arm not an emergency. I could not avoid hearing her as she and the person at the desk had a loud conversation. Child was not in distress at all. I was agog when they skipped out 20 mins later saying 'see love I told you we would be in and out'. I had been there five hours at this stage. She could have at least been discreet about queue skipping. Rant over, very dissatisfied with lack of care and empathy shown.

My baby was referred with a suspected serious kidney problem. I was very upset and distressed and very scared. I called the hospital and was put through to Patricia, secretary to Mr Quinn. She was so nice and calming, asked me to fax the letter through, she called me back the next day with an appointment to see Dr Quinn. We did not sleep for many nights beforehand as we were expecting the worst. We met with Dr Quinn at the clinic and to say we were relieved afterward is an understatement. My child still has the problem, but Dr Quinn is going to perform surgery to rectify this. We did not panic, we did not cry as we knew our baby was in good hands. He was so nice and kind and explained all to us in as much detail as we wanted. Answered all our questions. From the first call to the secretary Patricia to meeting Dr Quinn was a pleasure. They are both so calming and caring. We feel our baby is important to them and we have every confidence in both of them. The surgery is very soon, which is not easy, but certainly made easier with these two people taking care of our baby. Thank you both so very much.

We are forever indebted and grateful to the staff who fully investigated our child's condition and gave us the appropriate care, listened to our concerns as parents and supported us through our stay. The kindness, care, support professionalism and swift ability to ascertain the cause of his difficulties has ensured a greater quality of life for him and us all as a family. We are forever indebted to you all. Many thanks from the bottom of our hearts.

My child was born with a very rare condition and can only get the necessary surgery in the UK. My baby was transferred to Crumlin just after birth where I met Mr Quinn, who told me in detail what to expect and what was going to happen. Then I got a call from his secretary Patricia who explained the procedure regarding E112 form and treatment abroad scheme. If anyone has been down this route they will know it is anything but easy, but she explained it simply, helped with it in detail, organising the form, the letter, even a letter for the passport office. Since then I have been over to the UK on a couple of occasions and each time have to ring Patricia for more forms and letters. She never complains just gets on with it. The amount of extra work this creates must be enormous. She is so pleasant to deal with. I have a long haul ahead with my baby, but knowing that Mr Quinn and Patricia are in the background to alleviate my fears/concerns makes me feel so much better. Thank you so much for all your efforts in this tough time. You will never be forgotten and remembered in our prayers.

Absolutely appalling medical care from A&E. I brought my critically ill son to the A&E, he was obviously seriously ill, and in agony. After inputing all our details onto the computer, we were told at reception that my son would not be looked at as he had just turned 16 last month and that we had to leave the A&E. Given that my son was in agony, I asked for a doctor to at least examine him to say it's safe to travel to other hospital. This request was refused. After numerous requests, a nurse was called and repeated coldly that we had to leave the hospital. I had to bring my son to another hospital where he was diagnosed with a critical life-threatening illness, required major surgery and was in hospital for over six weeks.

Extremely rude staff. Treated daughter like a dog and left her crying on numerous occasions. Was told by the doctor that there was nothing wrong and it was an anxiety issue which we believed until we found out months later she actually has a specific condition and needs medication. One doctor in particular was extremely rude and I would love to know why they chose paediatrics. When asked if my child could be made better, the doctor replied quite abruptly that only she could make herself better. Keep in mind my child is a primary school student. A different doctor was also very rude. Not to mention the state of the rooms, absolutely tiny and not good enough for one of Ireland's only children's hospitals. Will be going to Temple Street if needs be and will most certainly NOT be recommending Crumlin to anyone.

My husband and I can't thank and praise Crumlin hospital enough. It definitely takes a certain type of person to look after kids and the best people work there. Everyone was so supportive and took time to talk us through everything. Dr Franklin got us straight into the heart center as our daughter was very sick, which we didn't realise. Prof Redmond did her surgery the next day. Everyone took great care of my 8 day old daughter. The place was spotless. Thank you to all the nurses in the heart center, so good to us.

I was given out to and slapped on the arm with a file by a nurse in front of all doctors, patients, parents and my son, for looking at my son's file. No doctors spoke up and parents looked on in shock and fear as everyone seemed to fear this angry, abusive, inappropriate 'nurse'. My arm was sore and throbbing for quite some time afterwards and I was totally shocked and humiliated.
