Hospital failed to explain costs and couldn't give valid reasons for them. I think this place is more interested in taking your money than providing care.

The Hermitage is an impressive building but the quality of care could be improved. I found the nursing staff inexperienced. They appear to spend more time on their computers and mobile phones than looking after patients.

Encountered on more than one occasion consultant shouting and belittling the nursing staff in public view of everyone. The nurses and healthcare assistants work so hard most days short staffed and they still go above and beyond and don't rush their time with you, even if it means they get out late to go home to their own families. The nurses seem to be the heart of the hospital, which could definitely not run without them and to see them being spoken to like that is disgusting and highly unprofessional. It's almost as if management accept that this is ok when really it isn't. Also I found the catering staff coming in through closed curtains a breach of dignity. If a nurse is present they will ask them to leave but more often than not they are ignored. So from what I saw it seems the nurses are treated with the least respect even though it is those nurses who look after the patients flawlessly every single day, despite being ignored or verbally abused.

I called to A and E at about ten am and was told I had pneumonia but there were no beds available so they couldn\'t treat me. I went to my GP who, rushed me by ambulance to Beaumont where I was treated with respect and had a bed on a ward by six o\'clock that night, hooked up to antibiotic for pneumonia and steroids to help. Why was I let go from the Hermitage?.. How can they have no beds available?....

Not impressed at all. Paid 190 euros initially to see specialist for five minutes, then he said to get me in for admission. Paid 2,650 euros for two nights (in a cellar semi private room with a great view of the delivery trucks entering and leaving the premises.) Staff I have to say were excellent. Upon arrival bloods were taken which had been done in another hospital the week before. Was taken for MRI on hip which had been done the day before in another clinic and was not even looked at despite me saying it on admission. And I told radiologist as well. Was taken the following day for chest x-ray and that was it. Why I had to stay there a second night I have no Idea. No treatment was recommended except that I go back to see initial specialist that cost 180 euro (you're having a laugh). I still am none the wiser and am still off work in a lot of pain. My own doctor is away until Monday 10th so I will be going to see him. No explained diagnosis or what treatment to be carried out, was given a 2.5 page printout underlining suspected diagnosis. That was it. Was also sent a bill for 210 euro for doctor I saw for five minutes tops. There was probably no need whatsoever for them to keep me there on the second night as they were happy to let me go the next morning and believe me I was happy to leave. I rang the specialist reception the following week. He was supposed to call me yesterday but I have heard nothing still. The food was disgusting and barely edible. I have also requested a full breakdown of the costs form their Accounts department and am still waiting for that. You call this Private Treatment, it's a disgrace. One very dissatisfied client.

Went to A&E in agony thought I would be seen quickly. Spent seven hours there and 15 euros on car park. I had stomach pains and was sent for a chest X-ray which cost a fortune and I have no idea why they wanted a chest x ray. Then had nurse who couldn't get a line in, after five attempts I was left with arm black and blue. Never seen the doctor, was sent home and told to come back the next day. Spent another five hours. Told it was probably a twisted gut but would make an appointment to see doctor - the cost would be 259 euros. Didn't take them up on offer as I was handed a bill of nearly 800 euros for the worst experience ever in A& E. I noticed people there from previous day, wondering what is the idea of sending people home from A&E to come back next day.

I have been to this hospital quite a number of times for ongoing treatment due to an injury in 2014. At the start everything was great but it started to go down hill quite quickly. I had an operation and that did not go great. I kept going back to the hospital after the operation because of my pain where I was given painkillers which worked for a few hours and then wore of. The operation was last year and I have been in serious pain for a good year after this. The doctors kept telling me there was nothing wrong and it was all in my head. I got a second opinion from another doctor and it turns out that all was not right and a second operation was done and every thing is going great now. If I had of been believed at the start the recovery would have been well over at this stage, but instead I had to go through being treated like a liar. I did not receive any good treatment from these doctors. I would not consider even closely that I received first class service from a place that charges a fortune to stay in. Most of the nurses, both day shift and night shift, were very nice but doctors on the other hand, need to spend a bit of time with these nurses in order for them to learn some bedside manners and how to deal with people that have been through hell and back.

The nursing care I received was at best poor. I was a patient for over two weeks and for the most part things went from bad to worse. The day ward was like a cattle mart, a veritable free for all. I underwent several tests in the radiology dept and found all the staff there to be pleasant caring and professional. The domestic staff were good though cleaning could be better.

It's four years now since I was a patient in The Hermitage. I was 'different' in the sense that I have 'special needs'. For the first couple of days in the hospital it didn't occur to any of the staff that I needed help with feeding due to the fact that I have a rare and chronic disability.

Was sent to A&E by GP. With stomach pains, I waited 7 hours, had chest X-ray which cost 120, had blood taken cost a fortune. Then sent home and told to come back the next day. Paid two days of parking. Got bills of over 800 euros, wasted 2 days of my life and still didn't find out what was wrong. This hospital is a money making machine, will go to Blanchardstown in future. I don't understand the practice of keeping people sitting in A&E all day to send them home to come back the next day. Will never touch this place again.

Hospital staff were great, private room was very good, food was outstanding. Nurses were caring and my surgeon and anaesthetist were great. All in all very satisfied, would recommend the hospital to anybody.

My husband had surgery there and it is like a cattle market. Waiting for hours with no information given as to when he was going to theatre. After surgery he went to the bathroom and pulled the emergency cord by mistake. He waited there for 10 minutes to apologise, no one came. I eventually went looking for him as I was worried. Just as well he wasn't pulling the cord due to a fall or chest pain.

The attitude of all the staff is this hospital, bar a few in the minority was awful. The theratre staff were very uncaring, especially one staff member. Am not sure if she a nurse or a doctor but the way she spoke or should I say screamed at myself and other staff members was shocking. Was holding back tears before my operation due to her uncaring nature. Would never go back to this hospital again, you would get better treatment in the public hospitals,

Absolutely disgraceful. Money machine. Have to wait to fill out forms before you're admitted for a procedure, no care or concern. Waited four hours for a scheduled day procedure as a private patient in this so called private hospital. Not even waiting in a nice waiting room, basically a thoroughfare with people walking through while patients are sitting in their dressing gown. Lady came in to clean the toilets while we sat there with the cleaning trolly in the middle of the floor. Nurses abrupt when asked when I was going to be seen after waiting four hours. Absolutely disgraceful.

Good medical care given to my father but disgraceful after care by the team of nurses. My father is 90 years old and blind. He has been ignored and left to fend for himself during meals with the result he is unable to eat the food provided, his day-to-day medicine forgotten with shocking frequency, with low blood pressure he was told to hydrate and then left without water for four hours despite my mother's repeated requests. Staff while not overtly rude, could do with in course of customer care. Pillows asked for yesterday still not received. For a private hospital with pricing to match it is a disgraceful lack of service they provide. We don't expect hand holding or a baby sitting service, simply the level of service that we are paying for....and the common sense to realise that a 90 year old blind man may need some help with the basics when my mother and family are not around.

My front crown was broken during the procedure in theatre. I was promised a dentist for two days. At the end of second day I was cleared to go home but, dentist promised he would come up to see me after 5pm if I wanted to wait. I waited until after 9.00pm and was informed by staff dentist had gone home hours ago and he was not answering his phone, they did not know when he would make contact or see me. I made a decision to attend my own dentist, and informed staff I had lost confidence in their dentist and I wanted to attend my own. The director of nursing told me to send in a letter of complaint and include receipt from my dentist, she said she would see to it being paid. Three months on and letter arrived saying they had decided not to pay as I did not use their dentist. Along with no basic nursing for my two day stay and mix up with scan appointment being missed, a terrible experience and I was left to pay 750 euro to have something fixed that I did not cause and I did not go into the Hermitage with. NEVER AGAIN. Have had to have two further procedures and chose another hospital to have them carried out.

Every member of staff from the reception, admission, nurses, doctors, catering and every other department I met were excellent. They could not have been any more helpful. I could not fault any aspect of my stay in the Hermitage. My room was spotless, the variety and quality of food was excellent. I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone. Seven stars all around from me.

I was referred to a doctor in the Hermitage by a doctor in another hospital. Doctors and nurses could not have been nicer at the time and during my stay. I was asked to be at the hospital at 4pm the day before operation, which of course I was. I was paying for the operation myself, but when I got there I was informed that I had to pay up front for the operation and stay at the hospital, which I was not told about before arriving at the hospital. Luckily I had the money in my account, but just two nights cost €4000. I was expecting to have a private room when paying this amount of money but no, I was in a shared room for the duration. I arrived at the ward where I was sent from administration and they informed me that there was no room there on that night so they sent me to another ward and said that I would be in the correct ward the next day after operation. On the morning of the operation, I was told to make sure that my bag was packed as I would be moving wards after the operation, the ward I was supposed to be in was specialised in the area that I was having the operation on. After operation I was put back in the same ward as night before and in a shared room. My overall stay at the Hermitage was nice, as in staff, doctors and everything else but for the price to stay in this hospital over night and sharing a room I do not think is correct. A self-payer patient should be entitled to a private room when they have single rooms in this hospital. I would not advise anyone who is a self-payer to go to this hospital because of the price of a room.

I called this morning at 9am to ask for an appointment with a consultant. I have been assigned a doctor and her secretary asked me to send the referral from my GP. Then she replied at 10am asking me to resend it. After two hours no feedback so I called and they put me through. She said it has been received, then she said 'bye now' and hung up. I waited one hour and I sent a new email saying that I still do not have an appointment, no reply. After one hour I called in and the people at the reception tried to put me through to another doctor's secretary, but as I said I already sent the mail to the other doctor she told me I would have to wait. I called every 10 minutes for about one hour and nobody was answering on the doctor's number, always voicemail. Now it is 6.00PM, I still do not have an appointment. I will complain to my GP who recommended this clinic.

Very disappointed in the care I received. I asked to be admitted into a private room four times and was told that a ward manager would get back to me, they never did! I waited 30 minutes for my bed but was only admitted six hours later by a doctor. I was put in a semi-private room with an 82-year-old and felt sorry for her as she didn't get the care she needed. She had to ask and so did I, for pain relief as it was not given. I work for a health insurance company and I will be giving them this feedback! The hospital looks great but unfortunately the patient care does not exist! Will not voluntarily go back to be treated there.

For my procedure, I feel that I should have stayed in the hospital over night and not just be in for a day case as I could not walk after surgery. I was vomiting and could not eat. Even after all of this I was wheeled out into the car.

This hospital is so badly managed its unbelievable. I had surgery and the dressing was never changed. The blood stained bed clothes were also never changed. I was sent home with needles still in my arm. The next day I got a letter saying that I had been given full instructions and that all needles had been removed. My dietary needs were completely ignored. I wrote to complain and I got a letter of apology, but this really is not good enough. I wish I could attach photos here.

Absolute well-oiled money making machine. I happened to need to be hospitalised four times this year. On one occasion a nurse insisted on taking my insulin from me and said they would return it in the morning. I was in a private room and I told him I needed to keep it with me as I would need to take it in the morning when breakfast was served and that was the staff change over time. The nurse persisted and took the insulin. The breakfast was served and went cold. I didn't get my insulin back until 11am - and I should have had it taken at 8am. My sugar levels rocketed. The nurse did come back that evening and apologised. I had made a complaint and the nurse had checked with their manager to see if I should be allowed have the medication. I assured the nurse I'd been diagnosed as a child with diabetes and had been using insulin for over 40 years!! I also had to go x-ray to have a procedure done. I explained that I wanted to insure the specialist would do the procedure. I was two hours on the table for a procedure that should take 10 minutes. I didn't have the main specialist although I had been assured by staff I would have. I was in horrible pain. They called in a second doctor to help with the procedure. When I got back to my room, I got into bed and cried from shock and pain. I felt like I had done ten rounds with Mike Tyson. I didn't see a member of staff for hours after. I was also discharged to be nursed at home (IV) by a Home Care Nursing Team. I had to go back to the main hospital to have the line in my arm removed. It was done in a public waiting room. I asked to see the specialist (he had said he would meet me and remove the line). I was told he wasn't available. I went home feeling unwell. I ended up being readmitted within a month with the same condition. I complained in writing and was sent a standard letter in return saying I should have gone to my own GP. I had paid to be treated by this consultant and my GP hadn't had any input - so had I gone to my own GP she would have told me to return to the Hermitage. Unbelievably unprofessional and uncaring.
