Elected to have an important scan here as it is listed as a high tech hospital and I also didn't want to be hanging around other hospitals during Covid. Wait times were very good and scan happened quick enough, but I didn't appreciate the nurse asking me all sorts of personal information as we walked in a public corridor towards the scan area, where lots of people could hear. In the waiting area, there were also other people and the questions continued. There should have been some privacy offered for this. When the scan was finished, I was just led out of the room back to a changing area. No instruction, no guidance. I had to wait and eventually ask someone was I finished and could I leave? I was then told that results of scan would be quick as "they were very fast in the Beacon", but four days later I'm still waiting for a consultant to review. Contacted hospital every day to get an update, was essentially told that it was 'outside their control' and the result would be ready when it was ready. I find this highly unprofessional and unacceptable. I feel like it's a case of, "we've got your money for the scan, so we're not too bothered anymore". Meanwhile, I'm still in agony and can't do anything. Never again.

My daughter had a medical issue and attended Beacon Emergency Department for an urgent diagnosis! Due to Covid restrictions, she had to present alone. There was somewhat of a delay (4 hours) but that was to be expected in an ED environment (albeit a private hospital!)....what was not expected was the uncaring, disrespectful, rude and unprofessional manner of the diagnosing doctor! Previously attended (prior to covid) as a result of a road traffic accident - was wholly unimpressed on this occasion too! Would definitely NOT recommend this ED to anyone!

Overall very pleased with Beacon Hospital. Had a pleasant experience there. Felt safe (from Covid19) there and was taken care of by all teams. Got follow-up if required. Would highly recommend Beacon Hospital from my personal experience there. Thank You Beacon Hospital and Happy New Year (2021) ❤️!

Myself and my husband had both had surgery in this hospital. We found it good and our consultants excellent but unfortunately one of us went to ED in Oct 2019 and did we get a shock...it was dreadful. We tried to complain to the hospital but it made no difference. So we now see our consultants in a different private hospital.

Great hospital, amazing staff and facilities. Food and catering staff were wonderful. Nurses were fantastic. Doctors brilliant. Could not fault the place.

Had a planned operation back in July. Covid precautions were very good. Very little wait time for op. Doc and nurses were brilliant as usual. One sour point from an otherwise great stay - the healthcare assistant on the morning of my discharge was so unprofessional. I was ready to go home and the doc was just writing out my script,so he had asked me to wait on my bed for two minutes. The healthcare assistant literally ignored him and grabbed my bag and walked off towards the discharge lounge and ordered me to follow him. When I arrived in the door, the doctor caught up with me and handed me the script. I was then walked out of the ward to the lift and given my bag by this healthcare assistant. All of this happened literally in the space of two minutes. Absolute joke in regards to this person's behaviour. Created hassle for no reason at all. I never ever have any problem with the place. Top class in everything except for this one person.

I stayed just one night however the care was exceptional, the room and bathroom very clean and the staff quick to respond to my calls for painkillers etc. The lovely night nurse who checked up on me every hour or so was apologetic for the need to wake me up and check for bleeding. The gentleman who brought me water and tea was also extremely nice and with the choice of food and excellent care I honestly wouldn’t mind staying longer. This level of care should be a standard. Didn’t wait too long to be brought up and checked before surgery either. In another (public) hospital I have spent once 12 hours over night in pain with a bladder/kidney infection and horrible pain siting on a hard plastic chair until a doctor seen me for five minutes and administered antibiotics. If I were to compare those experiences, the Beacon Hospital wins every time.

No problem with consultant or operation itself. But the aftercare was just terrible. Cleanliness of room was zero, which is especially worrying during Covid. The nurse did not speak English, had obviously not handed over from the efficient nurse who minded me during the night, and left me in severe pain for many hours. I eventually managed to haul myself out of the bed and stagger to the main desk, where I nearly collapsed before being given the right pain medication. I will NEVER EVER go back to this hospital, it was an absolute disgrace.

The ED department is a dreadful experience as left on a chair for hours in pain with a drip up while a silly man pretending to be a medical consultant ran around in a blue suit making loud phone calls on a mobile phone Soposeing about me which I felt was a fake call .rnMobile phones play a part in the way they run this department rnDifficult to tell who are the real doctors in this place rnI was happy with beacon before this experience my husband and I had surgery in it but the ED is a joke we won’t be back .

Every single member of the Beacon staff I met was polite, professional and made me feel like it was their sole job to look after me. It started with the Emergency Department where I was examined, sent for a CT scan, diagnosed and later admitted. The next day I had my operation, the next I was discharged. Every step of the way, every staff member from admin, porters, nurses and doctors to my consultant, they all behaved with such dignity, respect and professionalism.

Awful, awful experience in the Beacon hospital. The doctor I saw was absolutely awful. Didn't ask my history, didn't ask my symptoms, did not look at the part of my body where the pain was. Told me nothing. I had to ask questions and received answers that didn't make sense, which led to further questions that seemed to make the doctor frustrated. They recommended Nurofen without asking if I was on any other medication. They never reviewed my blood results, I had to ask after they put me out in reception and when I asked about them, doctor apparently was on a break (although I could them in the nurses' station laughing with staff), so I had to speak with the nurse after waiting another 30 mins. The doctor never explained what the recommended scans would do. They rolled their eyes constantly. I had to go to the nurses' station over the hours of waiting to find out how long things would be or take as I was there from 10.30 to almost 18:00. This doctor had a very dismissive attitude. They were supported by a rude receptionist who told me to go to reception and order scan results if I wanted them. When that receptionist left, their kind colleague took care of this request for me after 5.15pm.

Was in for an illness in March 2018. Scanned and admitted fairly quickly, and dealt with greatly. Shocked to get VHI statement of ¢ã4500, ¢ã500 of which was for medical care and ¢ã4000 for B&B - no wonder my VHI is so high - would have been cheaper putting me up in the hotel next door!

I've been in another private hospital on two occasions and my treatment was excellent. But here in The Beacon it was appalling. I was left on bloody sheets for over 24 hours. Was later left on sweat soaked sheets, after a reaction to medication. Three beds in a room, with only one having access to a window, the other two were staring at a blank wall, not helpful to a good recovery. I couldn't wait to leave the place. I felt like a number on a sheet, I certainly never felt taken care of. Yes some of the staff were caring but I rarely saw them. The shared bathroom was dirty and I never felt I wanted to shower there. My consultant was excellent - the only good thing about this place. I will NEVER set foot in it again!

Beacon is a money making machine that is poorly run. For the money the hospital charges, they should run regular trainings for doctors, who should be trained to treat their paying clients with a bit more respect. For 250 EUR I learned that I should make arrangements to ensure that I never go to Beacon in the future.

The obnoxious, intimidating staff member I encountered today behaved like a thug. He used bad language and was allowed to do so in the presence of a so-called supervisor. It's scary to see people like him being recruited to a frontline position by a private hospital that charges through the nose. I'm disgusted with them.

Floor staff were great, especially the nurses. It seems they are understaffed. Emergency Department was ok too. The procedure was ok but the hygiene in the theatre could be improved as it smelled of cigarette smoke. The consultants should take more time to explain the condition. One of the consultants didn't inform me of my CT results and another consultant had to take over and two days later I was told the results.

1.) Appalling service 2.) Left waiting for many hours with no update or consideration 3.) Could hear staff messing while patients waited without any advice 4.) Waiting area was a narrow corridor which I felt constituted a serious health and safety issue in the event of a fire 5.) Other patients left waiting too for hours without any consideration 6.) Consultant delays on both occasions 7.) Ten times worse than public hospital and charged through the nose!

The building being only seven years old did have some major problems, for example, all the windows had drafts. This would result in ongoing costs with regard to heating and cooling, and also patents would be subject to drafts.

Had to phone twice for my discharge record a week after discharge. Shows wrong admission diagnosis. Not explained why I had the problem when I was admitted. Found something unrelated, referred to a specialist in another hospital.

Exceptional care. I'd previously been very badly treated in another hospital and told there was nothing wrong. I'm glad I placed my trust in my doctor in the Beacon. She and her staff were exceptional and I felt listened to, respected and cared for. From first consultation to treatment (there was something very seriously wrong which the other hospital had missed) was just over a month. I can't thank my doctor and her staff enough, you're amazing!

The standard of care and professionalism was second to none. The person I was admitted by dealt with everything in an extremely professional manner. My surgeon performed a total hip replacement. An excellent surgeon. I would not consider anybody else for future orthopaedic surgeries. My recovery time was short and I owe this to his skill. From care staff, to the cleaning staff to the nursing staff to the bed manager: excellent all round. My stay at the Beacon was most comfortable and is probably the only hospital I would choose in the future.

All members of staff with whom I came in contact were outstanding in the service they gave me - friendly, sympathetic, efficient, and professionally competent. The place was well maintained and clean. The food was good (except for the coffee - never hot). I had a lovely room, but was never very comfortable in the bed. My only problem was having to wait in my room for three days to get a 15-minute ultrasound scan.

I attended the A&E department with a minor injury. After the triage nurse assessed me, I waited six hours for the doctor to send me for an x-ray. I was there for eight hours, the waiting room was just a corridor with chairs down one side very uncomfortable. When I left, there were people sitting on chairs waiting for a bed in the hospital only to be told the hospital was full. The bill for my treatment was 431 euro. Never again.
