Following a failed stress test, I did an angiogram. This showed up as critical percentage points of massive cardiac arrest unless urgent bypass surgery was done. Thanks to all for such immediacy as this was then undertaken and now one week later, I am home and am so grateful to my potentially life saving team.

Really impressed overall, very happy with my care here. The clinic could benefit from some updating, waiting room was very uncomfortable and busy. Thankfully I was not waiting long there. Reception staff were very pleasant and professional, Clare in particular.

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience at the Blackrock Clinic. My short 24 hours in the clinic were the best I could have wished for. Pleasant staff and so caring. Many thanks to you all.

All too often people contribute reviews to websites like this when they have a complaint to make. I think it is important to acknowledge when things go well. From the moment I arrived at Blackrock Clinic, I was treated with friendliness, care and respect. At all points I was given helpful advice and information. At no point was I made to feel that I was a nuisance or just another number. I would like to acknowledge the exemplary care I received in Blackrock and to say thank you.

This should not be called a hospital, it should be called a business. All nice on arrival, doing the operation etc... Once over it was best of luck, see you later, patient was released into their own care with no help or advice given on aftercare, no plan put in place. I hope no one has to put up with what my father and his family have had to.

Communication post-op was sketchy to say the least. There was a staffing shortage at night and at the weekend.

Phone your bank manager before going to the Blackrock Clinic, it is so expensive. The charges are just madness.

Gold standard at this medical facility. Very calm environment even with beds in emergency at capacity.

I recently spent one night in this hospital - around eighteen hours in total. This was done for precautionary reasons only - there was no medical procedure involved. For this, the hospital charged my health insurer over €2,500! Personally I think that this price is scandalous for the care I received. I understand that health insurers will find it hard to remain solvent if private hospitals continue to charge such high prices.

My grandfather went in for surgery just a week after a serious operation. He was sent home with no information about aftercare while still in a very very fragile state. He subsequently contracted pneumonia and we had to call an ambulance. On arrival to a different hospital, they were shocked at the treatment he had received and the state of his person. The clinic then requested he be transferred back to them for a procedure which he never received and to meet a doctor we have never seen. His condition has only deteriorated since his arrival. The only redeeming feature is his physiotherapist and two of his male carers, after this there is nothing to speak positively about.

I went into the Blackrock Clinic in excruciating pain and was treated with the utmost care and attention at all times. I am deeply indebted to the nurses doctors and staff for taking excellent care of me throughout the whole process and for the continuing advice over the the phone post op . Well done folks, you do am amazing job.

My family and I cannot describe the care from every single member of staff during our fathers final stay and death in the Blackrock Clinic. Every single member of staff must be hand picked as their kindness was exceptional. A particular mention to all staff on the Fitzgerald Ward from catering and cleaning to specialists and nurses. Words genuinely cannot describe their care and attention as if they were caring for one of their own family members. No other hospital we used compared.

Took my 81 year old mother from Letterkenny Hospital for a scan she was treated by a very unpleasant staff member. Asked her details out loud in front of two other people who were sitting there. Gave out about wrong needle being put in. Very unpleasant experience. If this is the treatment in private care I am so glad we have Letterkenny Hospital as the treatment she receives there is excellent.

I was sent by my GP on suspicion of having a serious health issue. I had to wait two and a half hours to be seen by a registrar but after that, the checks were fine. I was admitted and found that the majority of the assigned nurses had a poor grasp of English. The doctor who saw me prescribed a medication which (as per stated on the literature) should not have been prescribed for anyone with my health problem. He also asked that I be given an enema and an attempt to administer this was made by a nurse who proceeded to try and force a pipe against my prostate gland. She caused what was described in another hospital as 'trauma' to my prostate. Twenty hours after discharge (In a nappy) I had to be admitted to another hospital where a catheter had to be inserted. I had this for nine weeks until the damage or 'trauma' healed. This same nurse tried to pour icy water into the said pipe in order to administer the enema. When I questioned her about the temperature, she replied 'cold is OK'.

Excellent clinic and doctor but still after 10 months of treatment I am experiencing the same issue. I would come back but still I cannot be totally satisfied as my problem is not resolved.

The worst problem by far with the Blackrock Clinic is its over-reliance on agency staff especially at the weekend. My (lack of) care was appalling. It leaves one with the view that the Blackrock Clinic is there to maximise its profits. Sadly a family member was taken ill in recent days. Based on what they saw of my experiences they chose to go to St. Vincent's A&E where they felt ultimately they would be better cared for and respected and so it proved. Never again will our family use Blackrock.

Medical staff and care attendant exemplary. Nursing staff very disappointing. One nurse was chewing gum while taking my bloods making me feel I was wasting her time.

Surgeons, other specialists, medical and nursing staff made all the difference to a speedy recovery. Pain management was a priority. Other hospitals have much to learn from the Blackrock Clinic

I still feel quite raw in writing this review. Sadly my father passed away in this hospital. For the operation, my dad recovered - he died as a result of his weak lungs and a pre-existing condition. My dissatisfaction lies with the lack of communication from the doctors to my family. My father has a procedure carried out and we were not met by the surgeon or explained of any complications prior to the operation and did not once see the surgeon after the op to find how how he got on. This was all communication in dribs and drabs by the ICU nurses - we never felt we knew what was going on. There was no one person that explained from start to finish what was happening. It was a few days before dad died that the clinical nurse had explained everything to dad and not to us. Aside from that - some of the nurses were very good - some could have done with a bit of warmth and empathy. There were quite a few agency nurses /carers there too. One polish girl was fantastic with dad a lady called Natalie. I think there are staff shortages at night - on the night before my dad died there were only two nurses running the ward. I needed to call one of the nurses in to help me about four times during the night as dad was very uncomfortable. It got to a stage were the nurse told me she could no longer come and help me as she had to run around seven rooms with medication. I was left on my own trying to lift dad into bed. There was no doctor to the best of my knowledge on the ward. I am not negating the care my father received - I am just sad he did not come out alive and I just wouldn't rate this place as a good hospital

My child attended a consultant who sneered throughout the consultation, made a face at the mention of another consultant whose opinion was at odds with that of his own. Never examined the child and was paid €220. Rude and thoroughly unprofessional at the very least.

I was booked for surgery in Blackrock Clinic and decided to check out reviews on Rate my Hospital, the week beforehand. Some reviews were not good about staff, food, etc... I was concerned but was committed to getting the surgery in Blackrock. I had to write this review, as I found everything to do with my care and treatment, to be of an excellent standard. I hope not to need a further stay in hospital, but would not hesitate to choose Blackrock again, should I need to.

I am still shocked at how bad my experience was. The nursing staff smiled and walked away. The cleaning staff skipped the room frequently - no satisfaction when you questioned this. I would not recommend this hospital.

Having spent six nights here following major surgery, I was left traumatised by the lack of basic nursing care, particularly on my first night post -op. My pain control was totally inadequate and I was left unattended, without any recorded vital signs or wound observations -for approx 3 hours Over the following days had to empty my own urinary catheter bag as it was full. Overall the lack of empathy shown to me during my stay has saddened me.

We attended here because of the relative speed of access through A&E. My mother was in her room five hours later. The A&E Department had a quiet feel to it, which we found strange! The doctors are very good here, but the other staff are not friendly. I never once got a hello either from reception staff to anyone I met in the corridors. The food is awful here, cold tea included. Cleanliness left something to be desired. My Mother's room was never cleaned very well, or for very long, and trash was rarely removed. There was an old T-shirt dumped outside the window in her room, which seagulls pulled around! There seemed to be a lot of agency staff, and not enough staff in general. The place has a very quiet, empty feel.
