A and E waiting room very dirty floor and rampant with flies as there seemingly was nobody to clean up chips etc from floor need for a gadget like in butchers to attract the flies from alighting on patients.

Unfortunately the level of care offered by the nursing staff did not match that of the consultant

Exellent medical and nursing care given. It will be a disgrace if this hospital loses its acute medical services as planned by the HSE.

I witnessed an elderly heart attack patient and his wife being verbally abused by a doctor when the misfortunate man fell and hit his head against a radiator. I was kept in hospital three days longer than necessary because the nurse performing diagnostic tests would not cooperate with my doctor and consultant. The cleaners wiped the top of my locker with damp cloths and handled my water jug, glass, biscuits and minerals. The same cloth was used on other lockers before and after mile. Male public patients patients had to use the filthy public toilets to shave. The smell of urine was disgusting. Patients were kept awake until after midnight every night with 6 very noisy compressors which were used for ventilators. They used to have a piped air supply years ago. The noise exacerbater my headaces which were a side affect of my medication. The consultant and doctors discussed patients among themselves in loud voices in the middle of the ward, everybody heard everybody elses business.

We need this hospital to have full facilities -we have to travel to the Lourdes which is filthy. Our children will die because of no children's ward in Dundalk. The doctors and nurses are fantastic, they do a good job here but we have no doctors for certain departments-it's not a dirty hospital like the Lourdes. We have a campaign to fight the Government to help save our hospital but as usual they have done nothing.

i was admitted to louth county before being referred to OLOL Drogheda. louth county is miles ahead of OLOL both in care, staff and cleanliness. i'm aware that OLOL is where all emergency cases are taken and therefore the work load is increased but surely management would have increased staff to compensate, obviously not. Staff in louth county show a duty to patients above and beyond.

With the continuous scare of MRSA, I was constantly fearful of catching an infection, especially the morning after my operation when I was left with an closed over, untaped wound exposed for nearly two hours.

Unsanitary - cleaners use wet cloths to wipe the tops of lockers and go to every locker with the same dirty cloth; they remove water jugs, glasses, bottles, biscuits, sweets etc risking the spread of infection. Disrespectful - doctors discuss patients in a loud voice so that everyone can hear

Complete lack of any control on people/visitors entering ICU. Senior admin staff and some medical staff not scrubbing hands before entering unit despite the fact patients with MRSA were in the unit. In my opinion, it was a disgrace.

dedicated staff working under a lot of pressure due to the staffing levels at present (particularly the nurses ) as regards parking fee commented on by other user this only applies to the front carpark 2 euro regardless of how long you stay free carpark at rear of hospital; most other hospitals charge for parking i do not see how this could be a major negative for the louth

There was a general attitude throughout all staff that because of the patient's age, he really wasn't an issue. I dread to think how he would have been treated had he not got family to speak up for him. Pity the old people of this country who have nobody to speak up for them.

Parking very poor and having to pay for it is ridiculous. A&E is without doubt very, very poor. Can't blame those working there, not enough government spending on hospitals. People don't realise how bad the situation is until they experience it.

Mr Ahmed diagnosed serious illness explained all procedures and treatments and possible outcome to my myself and my family clearly and with kindness explained in detail both before and after surgery what would happen and what he had done. He and his team allayed all our fears and were there when we had questions. Aftercare was superb; nurses in icu second to none sorely undervalued. Cannot sat a bad word about this hospital saved my life.

Have been in this hospital many times over the last 20 years and have very few complaints apart from lack of wheelchair friendly toilets.
