Consultant spent 5 minutes with me and never asked about any problems I was having with my condition or medication.

Excellent maternity staff in general. I really felt cared for and supported from the moment I entered the hospital until I left. Thank you all!

Comment from visitors from UK 'lovely setting, so bright and airy inside, homely atmosphere, great relationship between patients and staff. Efficient and friendly".

Absolutely ridiculous hospital. An average wait time is apparently 8+ hours. People left sitting there for so long being told 'Oh you'll be next', 'Oh the night staff are coming on, they'll deal with you first'. It's not good enough. Understandably there are emergencies but these hospitals would have less people in the waiting room if they managed it properly. If it wasn't the local hospital I'd avoid it. Disgraceful place.

The hospital is a disgrace. I attended A&E with worrying symptoms and the doctors and nurses were very nice and helpful on that day, but after the change over, I was horrified with the treatment I received. I was seen by nobody from 11pm until 12.30pm the next morning. I was told they had lost my notes and forgotten about me. My boyfriend went out many times explaining my situation. After some tests, I was told things would be explained. No such thing, the nurse just came and told me to go home with no explanation. I am so stressed out because I am currently still very ill and have no answers. I suffer with extreme anxiety and am currently unable to eat sleep or anything with the pain and worry I am in. It's a pure disgrace. I wish I could name and shame the doctors and nurses but they didn't have name badge nor did they introduce themselves.

A very good unit, needs more investment.

Presented in the ED at the advice of my child's consultant in the UK following a procedure. The first doctor we met had no idea of the procedure that my son had undergone and seemed puzzled at the presentation. Waited another period of time to have three surgeons announce that my son would need surgery that evening. Another period of time passes and the case was referred to a different hospital for review. Eventually told that our son would not be having surgery despite being made to fast at seven months old. Discharged from hospital despite the emergency of the case. Had to ask my consultant in London to contact the other hospital on our behalf and explain our case. Shortly after, we were told to present to the other hospital with immediate effect. Arrived and my son was treated and discharged within an hour. We won't be attending UCHG again.

Quick, prompt booking, triage and subsequent treatment. We left a different hospital with no care and we were full of fear and anxiety. But the doctor in Crumlin liased with our consultant in the United Kingdom taking particular attention to learning the procedure to be undertaken and did so with such wonderful gentleness, kindness and compassion towards our seven month old son. Discharged from hospital less than an hour after presenting. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Our Lady's to any family in need. We will return to same in the future should the need present itself and will be taking a wide berth of the other hospital.

At 11.5 weeks pregnant I went to emergency room with pains. I was very nervous as it was my first pregnancy. Found the nurse to be very cold. They asked me 'was this my first miscarriage'. I didn't even realise I was having a miscarriage. Told I had to wait for doctor who was on call for C-sections. Doctor was friendly, gave me an ultrasound, told me to come back four days later for internal scan as they couldn't find a heartbeat. Very upset trying to get dressed and then a nurse pulled back the curtain and start stripping the bed that I was lying on. Went privately to another clinic the next day for a scan and found out I was having a miscarriage. I miscarried over the next three days. On my return to the Coombe a few days later, my partner couldn't find parking so I had to stagger through the hospital alone. I was sent on a while goose chase by a staff member who later told me he didn't know where EAU was. I was seen quickly here but told I hadn't miscarried everything. I was sent for bloods and sent home. Found the doctor to be abrupt and unsympathetic and dismissive towards my partner who was asking questions as I was still in shock.

I wish they would re-open the A&E, as it is needed in a big town like Dundalk.

I waited for several hours and the doctor I finally saw - their bedside manner was disgraceful and very unhelpful.

I was discharged with no assistance or plan. Saw different doctors and nurses however no plan or order or logic applied as to how it links. Also poor knowledge and understanding of my condition and how symptoms can be different from person to person. In fact seemed like I had a better knowledge of my disorder then them! Was told that after 2 weeks I would be assessed. Only to find after 8 weeks, 'sorry we can do nothing. Maybe somewhere else can help you'. Well, if they didn't know why not take the time to consult with colleagues in the field to try assist me. This would show conviction. One exception was a nurse who visited me at home before I attended. She was a great, caring, attentive professional.

Extremely happy with my experience. Had to visit Galway Clinic a number of times in the past 12 months. Clean, efficient, respectful and service driven are all words I would use to describe the hospital.

My first visit to the hospital as an inpatient, I walked in to the A&E in the process of a heart attack. The speed and care I was given throughout was exceptional - thank you all so much.

This hospital is very well run, clean, and dependable. I went in for a day case and the only critical thing I would say was that I had to share a room with another patient when I was recovering. The last time I was in for the same procedure I had a room all to myself. I could hear the other patient discussing her medical history, so maybe a privacy issue there. Overall the staff were very caring, attentive, and knowledgeable so I would recommend highly this hospital.

Day patient - was told in advance to allow four hours for the visit to have the procedure completed. Arrived at 12.30 out the door with diagnosis at 16.30. Well-run efficient day ward excellent staff. Thank you ladies and gentlemen.

Hospital failed to explain costs and couldn't give valid reasons for them. I think this place is more interested in taking your money than providing care.

One staff member I dealt with was aggressive, confrontational and rude. Not what I needed post surgery. Made me extremely uncomfortable and uneasy where I just wanted to get out despite not being fit.

A huge thank you to the doctors, nurses and all staff in the Emergency Dept. and Ruttle ward who looked after my Dad Michael Corcoran. ED staff so hardworking and caring in such a busy environment. Standard of care was excellent in ED and Ruttle ward and staff fabulously kind. Also very impressed with the cleanliness of the hospital.

I had a long standing illness for which I was admitted twice in 2016 and on each occasion I was treated quickly, with compassion and dignity. The food was great apart from one occasion. The ordinary staff were outstanding. There is a great sense of family in the hospital. The nursing staff were great and attentive despite the fact that they are understaffed, they always had a smile on their face no matter how difficult the situation was. The Mercy Hospital saved my life and I will be forever grateful to them.

I was admitted one year ago and am still doing well. A big thank you to all the nurses for looking after me especially Fiona in the Day Card Ward and the nurses on the John Paul II Ward.

I spent 11 days on St Laurence ward where I was treated very well. By the last few days I was more upbeat and had a good time and a bit of a laugh with at least one of the nurses, thank you for all the work you did.

While working away from my home in Cork, I came to the Mater ED in severe abdominal pain. Once in the ED I was treated with care beyond exception by each and every staff member. All procedures were explained in prior detail. I couldn't fault any part of my short stay including my surgery. Thank you Mater hospital from the bottom of my heart.
